  1. Read “How I almost died in Peru” and found it a crystalized depiction of your scary experience – and how it evoked your mother, Thanks you. In one of those odd associations, while I subscribe to Poem -a – Day, intent on keeping myself reading poetry, when almost all those around me do not.

This time the title was a shock, because an old high school friend died only weeks ago – in Peru – after becoming very ill with altitude sickness. It made me wonder if perhaps your words were an echo of her experience.

Thank you. Best wishes with the book.

    • Cheryl, I’m so sorry to hear about your friend! It must have been a shock to see the title. I know others who have had similar difficulties. It’s a difficult transition into those mountains. I appreciate your kind words about the poem. Thank you for reading. I’m glad you are reading poems daily. It’s an enriching practice. All my best, Trish
